The disruptive bio-startup of the week: Gourmey. Why does Heartcore invest in French food?

Gourmey is a French biotech company, a startup on a mission to change the way we produce our food and help solve the world’s food crisis. Why do big investors like Jimmy Fussing Nielsen and Heartcore believe so much in them? How is the company doing, and what is the business plan? And why start with the French national premium viand, foie gras?

Founded in early 2019 by scientist Antoine Davydoff (CSO), molecular biologist Victor Sayous (CTO) and marketing specialist Nicolas Morin-Forest (CEO), Gourmey has set out to ‘Savour the World’ where “spectacle and succulence share a table with sustainability and positive impact’ - according to the company’s website.

Gourmey is thus a pioneering food tech company that wants to spare land and resources by producing meat that is both tasty and environmentally friendly.
