“On the 25th of May, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) enters into force. The GDPR is a regulation on EU law that promises the individual more power over their own data—exactly the same as blockchain technology promises to do.
But what is GDPR and how does it interact with distributed ledgers like blockchain, where data is simultaneously unchangeable and spread all over the world? Very few researchers have had a genuine crack at these questions. In an on-stage conversation, the possible or impossible interplay between blockchain and the GDPR will be addressed by Julia Evelyn Larsen and Søren Terp Hørlück Jessen.”
